About

JULIE PATON

(B APP SCIENCE. SPEECH PATHOLOGY. University of Sydney)
Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia)

I am a Speech Pathologist with over 17 years’ experience working in the disability sector. Prior to starting Show and Tell Speech Pathology, I worked at Family and Community Services NSW and The Benevolent Society.

My core area of specialty is the assessment and therapy of children and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties associated with complex medical, behavioural and physical difficulties related to developmental disabilities, autism and dysphagia.

I have extensive experience working collaboratively with other professionals such as teachers, paediatricians, medical professionals, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists. This has allowed me to understand and provide a holistic way of delivering services that incorporates the individual, family and their life goals.

Therapy should be fun, motivating and relevant in the lives of everyone! I am passionate about helping my clients achieve their goals. I will work to assist my clients and engage with their ideas, priorities and concerns.  This will incorporate strategies that are both practical for Sydney’s ‘busy’ life and functional to promote meaning, control and choice for everyday tasks and situations. I am a mother of three boys and recognise the demands that exist for families (as well as the addition of special needs) to further complicate life.

In my years’ experience working in the field, I believe that progress and change occur when there are clear goals, strategies and people who spend the time to ‘show and tell’ in the little and everyday moments.

I look forward to working with you!
